Professional Bike Fitting

Does your bike fit you and your cycling style? Or is it set up for someone whose legs are an inch shorter than yours or someone with a longer or shorter torso? If your bike doesn't fit, it could be sapping major energy and performance.

A well-fitted bike can make all the difference! Our staff at Charleston Bicycle Company has been professionally trained to fit your bike to your body and riding style. A free bike fitting is included with the purchase of any new bike from our store. And for a fee of only $75 we will be glad to fit your bike to your body and riding style regardless of where you purchased your bike.

Below is a list of frequently asked question about our bike fitting service.

What Services are Included?

1. We measure you and recommend the proper size bike frame.

2. Once on the correct frame size, our measurements determine the proper seat height and stem length.

3. Further body positioning and fine tuning is accomplished by adjusting the seat's fore and aft position, the stems angle, and adjusting the handle bars.

4. We then watch you pedaling and make additional adjustments.

5. The outcome will be a finely fitted bike, set up for you and your cycling goals.

6. We fit the bike for your specific goals, whether it be triathlon competition, road racing, or comfortable cruising.

What questions will be asked during the bike fit?

1. What kind of riding do you do, or plan to do? For example:

a. Recreational cruising
b. Road racing
c. Off-road 
d. Triathlon
e. etc. 

2. What is your main purpose for this bike fit? For example:

a. I want to optimize my performance.
b. My legs. arms, etc, are always getting sore.
c. Is my bike fitted properly?
d. etc. 

3. Have you ever been fitted before?

Who does the bike fit?

John Glover conducts our professional bike fittings. John is the owner of Charleston Bicycle Company, a Cycling Team Member, Triathlete, and 3X IRONMAN.  John has been to bike fitting school and have studied the art of bicycle fitting as it relates to both performance and comfort.

What does the bike fitting service costs?

Our bike fitting service comes free with the purchase of a new bike from CBC or is available to anyone for a fee of $75.00.

How do I schedule a bike fit?

What should I bring to my bike fitting?

Bring your bike, and everything you normally wear to ride.  If you are getting a triathlon specific fit, wear the shorts and shoes that you would when you compete.  If you need a road cycling fit, wear the clothes you would normally wear road cycling or racing.

What to expect?

1. The fit takes about an hour.  
2. Be prepared to pedal for a few miles on the trainer. 
3. You'll need to make a few decisions like:
        a) Do I want my set up to be optimized for triathlons, road racing, or distance cycling?
        b) Do I want my set up to be optimized for performance or comfort - or a little bit of both?

What about follow up?

After the fitting, ride for a while and if you need a few minor adjustment we would be happy to look at your setup again and reevaluate the fitting for no additional charge for up to 6 months from the initial fitting.
